Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Arms Control (D.N.A.) and Key Thematic Areas

D.N.A and UN Sustainable Development Goals

Focus on exploring the connections between disarmament and arms control processes and the 2030 Agenda. The "3Ps" approach—participation, perspectives, and partnerships—are used to investigate the subject and their connection to “Building back better from COVID-19 while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda.”

D.N.A and New and Emerging Technologies

Focus on how more actions need to be taken to encourage responsible innovation by a variety of stakeholders, as well as the need to foster an environment of accountability and adherence to standards, guidelines, and principles for responsible behavior in cyberspace; promoting and contributing to building an open, secure, accessible and peaceful ICT environment.

D.N.A and Gender

Focus on how Arms control, non-proliferation, and disarmament all clearly have a gender component. Issues relating to WMDs, conventional weapons, small arms and light weapons, disarmament, and development affect women, men, girls, boys, and others in varied ways. Their ability to participate in and contribute to the field of disarmament is still restricted by structural constraints.

D.N.A and Environment

Focus on the environmental aspects of Nuclear Weapons. Armed conflict, military operations, and nuclear testing have harmed the environment and still do. With devastating environmental effects, nuclear weapons constitute an existential danger to global peace and security..

D.N.A and Education

Focus on Engaging, educating, and inspiring young people to act as good change agents. Workshops and training programs aimed at educating people in order to help them contribute to disarmament efforts as citizens of their country and the world.

“It is young people from around the world that have a critical role to play in the here and now in raising awareness and developing new ways to reduce threats from weapons.”
